Evaluating Anti Aging Clinics

Anti Aging Clinics: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

In today’s world, more and more people are beginning to worry about aging, which has led to the emergence on many products as well as services that are geared towards the anti aging industry. There are anti aging lotions, diets, and even clinics out there today that cater to people who are pursing a virtual “fountain of youth.” While many of the anti aging clinics in operation today do provide some good services, if one takes a closer look, not everything offered is a good thing.

Sure, with all the products, supplements, and hormones being offered their business is definitely booming, but one has to wonder if amid all the supposed benefits there are some risks that are not being mentioned. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the good, the bad, and the truly ugly that can be found in these anti aging clinics that are ever increasing in popularity.

The Good
While there may be some shadows of doubt when it comes to some of the practices done in clinics for anti aging, there are definitely some positive things going on as well. There are a variety of different services that are being offered by anti aging clinics that work to slow down the process of aging, and there are some that definitely have some scientific grounding. The following are a few of the good things you’ll find in many of these clinics.

  • Emphasis on Proper Nutrition – One good thing you’ll find in these clinics for anti aging is the emphasis on proper nutrition that many of them have. Many of these clinics promote natural foods to help combat aging, which includes vegetables and fruits that are unprocessed. It is recommended that foods that are processed are eaten in moderate quantities for the best results.

  • Exercising – Most of these clinics also recommend that their patients get daily exercise as well. The programs that they use and recommend, includes using strength training and cardio exercise in conjunction to keep the body as healthy as possible. Mind exercises are also encouraged to keep the mind young and alert.
  • The Bad
While there are some good things coming out of these anti aging clinics, there are some things that are on the bad side as well. Some of the new alternative and surgical methods that are being used for anti aging purposes are risky and unproven, and some of them can be very painful as well. Some of the treatments on the surgical side include botox injections, mesotherapy, liposuction, face lifts, and many other types of body tucks and lifts as well. These surgeries can be quite painful, and the problem is that they don’t always provide long lasting results.

The alternative methods that are used are far from proven and many of them offer false hope as well. One alternative method is chelation therapy, which includes either digesting disodium EDTA or having it given intravenously. It is supposed to help get rid of some of the metals in the body and proponents of the therapy claim that it can help prevent serious health problems such as atherosclerosis and other heart problems. While the claims may sound great, these claims have never been proven by any type of science or clinical trials. A variety of side effects also exist with chelation therapy as well, and many of them can be quite serious.

    The Truly Ugly
Although clinics for anti aging do have some great ideas and programs that they use, taking a close look at many of these clinics reveals some very ugly things. In fact, there are some therapies that are being used in these clinics that some people are asking the FDA to crack down on. Probably one of the most controversial therapies that is being used in the anti aging clinics is the use of HGH, which is basically a human growth hormone that is naturally produced in the body. It is actually illegal to distribute this hormone for the purpose of anti aging.

While HGH has seemed to help some people with their quest for youth, the problem is that it can be quite dangerous. If the body is still producing plenty of HGH and you add more to the body, it can be extremely dangerous and potentially lethal to the body. Take a closer look at HGH and some studies have shown that this hormone can actually promote the growth of tumors when it is administered. Also, using this hormone can also bring along many side effects including some structural changes in both the feet and the hands, high blood pressure, and even blood clots.

After taking a closer look at these clinics and what they have to offer, it is apparent that they do have some good things to offer; however, there is a bad side to these clinics as well. In some cases it seems that those involved in the anti aging movement are more interested in a multi billion dollar market than in the health and wellbeing of their patients. So many of the alternative anti aging treatments are risky and come with absolutely no scientific proof behind them and many treatments are nothing more than experiments. Sure, some of these anti aging clinics do have a lot to offer; however, before you decide to visit an anti aging clinic, you’ll want to do some serious thinking about how far you are willing to go to try and pursue youth.
